How to Vote
- You need to be an OMA member and a CMA member
- All physicians who are members, including students and residents are eligible to vote
- The election period runs from January 15 to February 26, 2009.
- On January 15, 2009, the election package will be mailed to all eligible voters. All OMA members who are also members of the CMA, including medical students and residents, will be eligible to vote. Included in this package will be the following:
- A covering letter outlining the option of voting either by mail
or electronically
- Instructions on voting electronically via the Internet
- A paper ballot, a ballot envelope and a pre-paid return
envelope
- The candidate letters of intention/resumes.
- Log on to the OMA members' page - www.oma.org
- Click the "CMA Election" button. Then click the link to the Voting page.
- Enter your ID number and Voting Password (located at the bottom of the ballot envelope included in the voting package mailed on January 15) to proceed to the electronic ballot.
- As instructed on the ballot page, enter numbers in the spaces beside each of the candidates' names to rank your ballot. Once completed, you will be prompted to confirm your ballot. Once you click to do so, your vote will be recorded.
- The electronic voting site will close at 5:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
- Fill out the paper ballot included in your package
- Place your completed ballot inside the ballot envelope and seal it.
IMPORTANT: the ballot envelope containing your ballot must be returned in the prepaid return envelope since your Voting Password will be used for validation purposes.
- Insert your ballot envelope in the prepaid return
envelope and seal it.
- Your vote will be counted only if received at the OMA office in Toronto before 5:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
